Feature Friday: Aubrey Veva Design

Today I am featuring the home of Aubrey from Aubrey Veva Design.  I love her mix of traditional and modern elements.  Here is what she says she loves most about her home:

I want to welcome you to our quaint little home located in the Avenues near down town Salt Lake City, UT. This 1,000 sq ft rental has comfortably been our home for me, my husband Bryan, and our daughter Veva for 3 years now and I have just about design devoured every square inch of it.  It’s been a fun challenge transforming this space with its 12 ft ceilings, stark barren walls and large rooms in to a place of peace from the busy world outside us.

My design style has changed within the few years we have lived here, and it continues to change with the seasons my families life. Now that we have little Veva, I have found myself being inspired by her bright spirit, and utilizing that through color. I now have more vivid pops of color through out our home, a palette that I can proudly say was innovated by my little girl. When before it was a very monochromatic black and white color scheme.

I love mixing the old with the new. My design style for our home is contemporary with a twist of chic. I am all about the hunt, the hunt for a great piece of furniture that is eye capturing, yet enticing. It doesn’t need to be the most expensive rug in the magazine, but something that tells a story. One of my favorite pieces is my old vintage black trunk I use as a coffee table. It was one of my dearest friends grandmothers she brought over from Europe in the late 1800’s. She was selling it a yard sale, so I snatched it up as soon as I laid eyes on it. Now it is a home for all my knit blankets I take out during the holidays.

I believe that all spaces should inherent a sense of style and personality, in order to create an excellent design. My interior aesthetic for a well designed room is to incorporate character, color and good company. I hope you enjoyed my home tour and hope it can help inspire those to create a space to call home away from our everyday busy lives.

Enjoy!
